John Blom - Senior Pastor

John is our Pastor for Teaching at Grace Baptist Church (GBC) in Parma, Idaho. It has been and continues to be a very interesting journey that has brought him to this point. John grew up on a dairy in Jerome, Idaho.  He and his family attended the Twin Falls Reformed Church in Twin Falls, Idaho where his Dad was one of the founding members of that body, until they left Jerome. John became a Christian when he was between seven and ten years old and had the privilege of growing up in a home where his parents loved Jesus.

Upon graduation from high school he moved to Southern California for about three years.  He later decided that a life of working in a cabinet shop was not for him so he headed to Humboldt State University  to study engineering. John was very active in Campus Crusade for Christ while he attended HSU. That was a very good thing because while he was on a CCC Santa Cruz summer project he met his future wife Raquel. John and Raquel were married in 1991 and he graduated from HSU will a BS degree in Environmental Resources Engineering in 1993.  

John has continued to work at Holladay Engineering Co. since he graduated from HSU. He went back to school to obtain a Masters in Business Administration from Boise State University  in 2000. John and Raquel live in New Plymouth, Idaho and have two children, a dog, two cats, a rabbit, five chickens and for some reason two ducks. 

In 2006, John and Raquel, along with two other families, felt the call to start a Church that had a strong doctrines of grace theology, contemporary worship, and a passion to encourage believers to dig into the Word of God and live whole devoted lives for Jesus. They desired to be part of a body that was striving to love the Lord their God with ALL the heart, ALL their soul, and ALL their mind. That is what they have been relying upon God to do within and among them since 2006.
